Heater

This car was never equipped with a heater, so both lines coming from the replacement engine were blocked off when I got the car.

I added both heater hose lines and put a "T" fitting on both of them, so I could back flush both ways when needed later down the road.

I used a piece of old body steel from one of my vintage parts cars and made a mounting plate.  The heater was mounted to the plate using thick rubber grommets. The plate was them bolted to the frame work on the side kicker panel.

I picked up a new heater and it fit in nicely up against the passenger kick panel.  The only drawback here is that since the car never had a heater, it also doesn't have any defroster vents.  I don't want to alter the dash by cutting in a couple slots, so I'll see how the heater does at keeping the windshield clear.  If necessary I may have to make up some external ducting that would only be in place during the cold winter months.

Update

After driving the car through December, I found the heater to be more than adequate.  But until the inside of the car warms up to a comfortable temperature, the front window fogs up slightly.  The way to overcome that, is to open the front window slightly for about 5 seconds and it clears off completely.
